OK - I don't mean to keep going on about the weather, but...
Our area of Saskatchewan, the South western corner, is normally semi arid. Normal rainfall amounts for May and June are 2-3 inches per month.... not this year. A thunderstorm dropped six inches on the town next to us in an hour last night. Great fun!
This was on top of rainfall which has already been delivering record amounts for the last two months and resulting in flooding everywhere across the province. The Trans-Canada highway was closed due to flooding 2 days ago.... as was The Highway south of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
The parking is poor, but we might end up with beach front property - it would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

ReplyDeleteI know it's a serious topic, the seasons are changing. Countries are experiencing such diverse and often horrendous visits from Mother Nature. Surely it has to do with Climate Change, the hole in the Ozone layer?..I wonder, are there more violent changes to come or will we find the answer? Maybe one which suits us, rather than the medicine which we feel may be forced upon us and which we're fighting against?
Time will tell...
Pat - I'm not surprised, the rainfall this year seems to be widespread.
ReplyDeleteLadyP - The weather is the default conversation starter in every small town on the Canadian Prairies; perhaps part of Canada's British ties? As for Climate Change: perhaps, but unless its a lasting trend... and if it is, we really will have beach front property!
WOW..that is scary dude. How much have you been affected by this. It's not like it's melting snow that will eventually not be a water source but will continue all summer to be bad. Hope you are okay.
ReplyDeletePersonally, we've been lucky and its only an annoyance. We have friends and neighbors though, that are suffering through property and income loss because of it.
ReplyDeleteIn the winter time, the roads aren't well maintained so it's always frustrating--some people have a light dusting and my house would have two feet and my bosses would all be wondering why I wasn't coming in!

ReplyDeleteYay for beachfront property! When I was living in university-owned apartments, my apartment overlooked the parking lots that surrounded the football stadium. All of the drains went to a huge bowl that the university had built, with an enormous drain at the bottom. Whenever it rained hard enough, my apartment suddenly became lakeside. It was wonderful!
